Occupational Therapy
Occupational therapists and occupational therapy assistants work with children and other individuals on a variety of skills pertaining to their “occupation,” whether at home, school or work. For school services, our OT team focuses on helping children develop the abilities they need to engage their senses, dress themselves and take care of their other personal needs, complete tasks at school such as handwriting and typing, manage their school supplies and materials, perform prevocational tasks, and interact with other children and with teachers, as well as develop the abilities they need to fully function in a school setting and to be prepared for eventual high school graduation. Our OT team strives to make activities interesting and engaging for the children we serve, as well as educationally relevant and linked with activities and content aligned with curriculum. For older individuals, our OT team focuses on helping them advance and enhance their daily living abilities, employment activities, and their community participation.
Physical Therapy
Physical therapists and physical therapist assistants work with children and other individuals on a variety of skills pertaining to their functional mobility and gross motor abilities, whether at home, school or work. For school services, our PT team focuses on helping children develop the abilities they need to actively join their peers in a variety of school activities including recess and physical education class; to more functionally, independently and safely travel throughout the school building and classrooms; to more easily participate in classroom learning and other activities and routines; and to enhance their physical fitness and conditioning; to learn how to complete school, life and work tasks; and to develop the abilities they need to fully function in a school setting and to be prepared for eventual high school graduation. Our PT team strives to make activities interesting and engaging for the children we serve, as well as educationally relevant and linked with curriculum activities. For older individuals, our PT team focuses on helping them advance and enhance their physical abilities to pursue their interests for employment activities, living activities, further education, and participating in their communities. Out PT team also assists children and individuals and their families to pursue adaptive devices that enhance their overall functional independence including wheelchairs, standing frames, walking devices, seating systems, adapted bath seats, adapted car seats, and home or classroom modifications.
Speech Language Therapy
Speech language pathologists work with children and other individuals on a variety of skills pertaining to their communication and language whether at home, school or work. Areas of focus include language, articulation, fluency, voice resonance, swallowing, social engagement and cognitive processes. For school services, our SLP team focuses on helping children develop the abilities they need to communicate their wants and needs, communicate with their peers and teachers, express themselves and share their knowledge, actively participate in daily learning and classroom activities, engage socially with others, and make advancements in their education, as well as develop the abilities they need to fully function in a school setting and to be prepared for eventual high school graduation. Our SLP team strives to make activities interesting and engaging for the children we serve, as well as educationally relevant and aligned with curricular content. Our SLP team has the ability to make unique contributions to classroom curricular activities to support the learning of all children, especially literacy achievement. For older individuals, our SLP team focuses on helping them advance and enhance their daily living abilities, employment activities, and their community participation by addressing communication, social-emotional, functional, and vocational needs.
